Brand of Me
It’s a new week back to school and I spent it… hiking! Being in a remote location means I didn’t hit the books hard. But when I arrived back in civilization I was surprised at how much of my coursework related back to the lessons I learned on the trail in Havasupai!
The hike down the canyon, through the village, and to the campground is a hot 10 miles. We choose to pack all our stuff in. No helicopter. No pack animal. We decided we were not “babies”. We wanted the whole experience. And… we paid for it! We Alaskans were not used to the heat. My training could probably have been better. In the end, we decided, we are not babies and we can pack our own stuff in and out. But what kind of experience could it have been when using the help of others? There are warning signs along the way. There are fellow hikers there giving encouragement. And we are friends who are totally willing to stop and take breaks when the others need to! This is a hike where you need and should use all your resources. No shame.
This week, in my Entrepreneur class, we learned a lot about what the class will entail. It seems alot of it will be tailored to self-reflection and figuring out your personal brand. Who are you so that people want to work with YOU? What are your capabilities? Where do you want to go? What are your goals? What would you like to change? Are you using all your tools?
With what I do on social media I work with and meet a lot of interesting people. Class this week spoke about how humans are really natural entrepreneurs. People need people. It is your ability to relate, adapt, and learn that can often be the difference between success and growth… or not. Your network is a key aspect of how you grow. I am so excited for this class to help me see where I can use my abilities to really help others grow. Where can I help others shine? Cause… that’s what I like to do! I love to show off other people and make them shine! But… I do like to put my own quirky take on it. I can’t wait for this class to show me more tools I can use to uplift others in my community. After that crazy hike I am determined to ease my burdens by using whatever tools I have in any situation!
