Just One More
About two years about I had a girls trip to Kodiak Alaska where we did a lot of hiking! Three mountains in 4 days with several easy hikes on one day…. My legs were dead. I should also mention I get unbelievable anxiety going up a mountain. Every single time. Our last hike was the hardest for several reasons. Number one, it was our last hike! Number two, it was higher and steeper than any of our previous hikes. The weather was also not great that day! The steep shale got to my brain. The rain caused me to slip many times. This is one mountain I truly thought I wasn’t going to make it up. And after what felt like the 4th big false summit I thought, “No. I want to do this. I am going all the way up! I always do!” Then each time I went up a curve and would see this wasn’t in fact the top. I would say, “No, just one more!” And I made it! Even better, the way down is my forte. While sliding down some others in my party were having a hard time and… when I split my pants right down the butt crack I was able to give some much needed comic relief. We still talk about that fateful climb where the moon shone bright!
This week in class, we were asked what the top three things were that we liked from the information. My three tips I loved were…
Make rules and create a schedule with how you spend your time.
Be intentional
Sometimes less planning is better. Just do it.
I felt like I was being reminded of Barometer Mountain the whole week. Make smart steps. Have a plan, but also… just go! I mean, it’s pretty simple advice as far as business advice. It seems like you will need all kinds of projections and plans. But in reality, our anxieties almost never come true! Just go for it and adapt as you go. Chances are, you will have a great story to tell at the end.
